Turning Point

Did you know social workers provide
the majority of counselling and therapy
services in Ontario? There are clear
reasons why this is the case:
Social workers:
We have a unique understanding of the relationship between people and their environment and how social stressors impact physical and mental health.
Our Team:
We use a client-centred approach and value the importance of relationship building, and honouring client's needs.
insurance coverage:
Registered social workers are typically covered by employee insurance plans. We will provide receipts for insurance and tax purposes.
College of social workers:
Social Workers are accountable to their College and the College's Code of Ethics. All counselling sessions are confidential.

Collective Experience

Turning Point is a collective of seasoned clinical social workers, brought together by their shared vision and passion for providing the highest level of care to their clients. Standing alone as the only counselling practice in Southern Georgian Bay that is solely social work driven, this is a unique asset.

The therapists at Turning Point are distinguished for their education, skill set and experience. Cumulatively, they have over 80 years in practice. As registered social workers, they are devoted to their craft and are in service of the core values of social work: dignity and worth of all people, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.

We are still open to see our clients!

Although we are saddened to respond to the threat of the corona-virus by halting in-person therapy sessions, we feel it is our priority and social responsibility to keep our clients and clinicians safe. This has been a difficult decision for us. Stress from social isolation, financial or relationship difficulty, and mental health struggles are amplified by what is going on around us.  We know this is a crucial time to maintain our services, and so while we cannot meet with you in-person, we are pleased to respond to your therapy/counselling needs in the following ways:

New Referrals: We are still taking new referrals. Contact us through our website or call us directly. We value all contact from new clients to answer questions or to book an appointment.

Therapy/Counselling Services:  We are using a secure encrypted online video program to connect with our clients through video conferencing. We have been using this app for reaching our physically remote clients for some time, and recognize how important online contact is for everyone. Our in-person clients are telling us that this format is more comfortable than they thought!
